Body Contouring – Arm Lift and Thigh Lift

For patients who desire a more comprehensive makeover to slim and improve the contours of their body, body contouring can be the solution. At our Greenwich and Manhattan-based practices, we perform high quality procedures to help patients attain a sleeker body and feel secure and comfortable with their appearances. With a full range of advanced procedures that includes arm lift, thigh lift, tummy tuck, liposuction, and breast augmentation, we provide comprehensive surgical care so that his patients can achieve all of their aesthetic goals.

Arm Lift

The effects of aging and rapid weight loss can result in loose, hanging skin on the upper arms. The excess tissue can cause discomfort and get in the way of daily activities. With an arm lift procedure, or brachioplasty, we can tighten the skin on the upper arms so that they are firmer and tauter.

The Arm Lift Procedure

The arm lift procedure takes one to two hours. In performing an arm lift, we first make an incision between the armpit and the elbow. We then remove the excess skin, suction out any fat, and close the incision with stitches. The arms are wrapped in bandages that may be removed in one to seven days; the patient can generally resume work and many normal activities in one to two weeks.

After Arm Lift Surgery

After arm lift surgery, patients may feel swollen and tender. The physician will prescribe medication to help with discomfort, and the patient will wear a compression garment for up to two weeks to help with healing. An arm lift is the option that can help eliminate loose skin and the saggy appearance of the upper arms. Thigh Lift

For patients who want slimmer, more toned thighs, liposuction may be a good treatment option. However, patients who have sagging, "dimpled" skin on the thighs need more extensive treatment to eliminate excess skin and fat so that the thighs can look trim and smooth. Thigh lift surgery (thighplasty) can give the thighs a more shapely, slender, and tight appearance.

The Thigh Lift Procedure

In performing a thigh lift, we make an incision according to the type of thigh lift procedure being performed. For a procedure that targets the inner thigh (inner thigh lift), we make an incision in the groin area, near the hip; for a procedure that addresses the front and outside of the thigh (bilateral thigh lift), we make a horizontal incision across the area where the thigh meets the groin. We then trim away extra skin, pull the skin upward over the area, and close the incision with stitches. The incision is covered with bandages or a support garment to aid healing, and recuperation generally takes three to six weeks.

After Thigh Lift Surgery

After thigh lift surgery, the patient may experience some discomfort and pain, but we can prescribe medication to help with these symptoms. Many patients return to work about two weeks after thigh lift surgery.
